ARCHITECTURE OPEN TO THE FOREST
Perched on a ridge, the house overlooks the surrounding oak grove. Stone salvaged from old farm buildings and wood sourced from local forests harmonize with the clean lines and contemporary design. A perfect balance between vernacular heritage and modern design. The four bedrooms—bright, understated, and seamlessly integrated into the landscape—open directly onto this unspoiled setting. Upon waking, the forest becomes a living tableau, accompanying the leisurely moments of the morning as you enjoy a homemade breakfast prepared with local and organic ingredients.

This place is a family story: that of Nathalie and her three children, Léa, Baptiste, and Martial. Together, they designed this home, weaving in their personal influences and memories. In the living room, for example, you’ll find a vintage find or a touch of African flair that reflects one person’s journey or another’s aspirations.
The welcome is simple and sincere, just like being at home with friends. Whether you come as a couple or with your family, you’ll feel right at home—the atmosphere is kid-friendly, warm, and relaxed. And after a day exploring the gems of the Périgord Noir, the pool offers a refreshing break surrounded by trees.
Located just a stone’s throw from the Lascaux Caves, Sarlat, and Les Eyzies, Les Grands Chênes is the perfect starting point for exploring the history and beauty of the Périgord Noir. Offering a blend of total relaxation, cultural discoveries, and immersion in the local way of life, this retreat invites you to truly slow down.
What I loved about this place was the feeling of being cut off from the world without ever being far from what really matters: a place designed with care, where you feel right at home the moment you walk in.
